Custom Kitchen Renovation Sterling

Two Sterling Kitchens, Two Different Jobs

In Sterling Park the kitchen is often the smallest room in the house and the wall to the dining room is the whole problem. Take it out, run the counters through, and the house gains a room it always had. Wiring and plumbing from the 1960s are brought current while the walls are open.

In Cascades and Lowes Island the footprint is fine and the finishes are the issue: oak or maple boxes, a peninsula that blocks the family room, laminate or early granite. The job there is a real island where the peninsula was, cabinetry to the ceiling, a lighting plan, and materials the builder never offered.

The Kitchens We Have Remodeled Most

Our office and showroom are at 44225 Mercure Circle, so Sterling is where EA Home Design has remodeled more kitchens than anywhere else. Nearly 2,000 remodels across Northern Virginia since 2009, 28 design awards, four national wins including the 2026 Möbel National Award for Best Kitchen Design, and a Virginia Class A licence (#2705157182).

That local repetition matters. Sterling Park kitchens from the 1960s and 70s are galleys and L-shapes closed off from the dining room by a wall that is usually not bearing. Cascades and Lowes Island kitchens from the 1990s are the builder package with a peninsula and a short island. We have opened the first kind and rebuilt the second so many times that the surprises are mostly behind us.

Kitchen Remodel Process Sterling VA

Chosen at the Showroom, Built by Our Own Crew

It starts with a free in-home consultation, and because the showroom is in Sterling, most clients see cabinetry, stone and hardware in person within days rather than weeks. We measure, check what the structure and systems will allow, and listen to how you cook and gather.

You get a full design with 3D renderings and a price locked before demolition. One project manager runs the build: Loudoun County permits and inspections, structural work where a wall comes out, plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, counters and finish. Per Virginia law you start with just 30% down, and cabinetry is ordered before demolition so the kitchen is never waiting on a delivery.

Kitchen Renovation Services Sterling VA

What We Build in Sterling

Full kitchen remodels, wall removal and open-plan conversions, custom and semi-custom cabinetry, quartz and natural stone counters, islands and peninsulas, lighting plans, and kitchens that grow into a new dining space.

A recent Sterling project shows the second kind of job: a full remodel in the existing footprint, new cabinetry, quartz counters, new appliances, updated lighting and flooring, about six weeks on site, and proof that a complete Sterling kitchen does not need a wall to move. See the Sterling kitchen remodel case study.

“From the first meeting with Ali, everything felt organized and transparent. Kevin was always involved and made sure every detail of our kitchen remodeling was handled properly. Carolina’s design ideas completely transformed the space.” Olivia Stearn, Sterling, Google review.

We work across all of Sterling: Sterling Park, Sugarland Run, Countryside, Cascades, Lowes Island, Potomac Falls, Great Falls Chase and Rivercrest. Planning more? See bathroom remodeling in Sterling, or kitchen remodeling in Ashburn and Herndon.

A full remodel in the existing footprint usually runs six to eight weeks of construction; the Sterling project on this page took about six. Taking out a wall adds one to two.

Cabinetry lead time is what really sets the calendar, which is why we order it before demolition starts.

On most Sterling Park plans that wall is not bearing, and it comes out with a permit and a clean header. When it is bearing, we design the beam, get the engineer’s letter, and it still comes out, just with a little more steel.

We confirm which case you have at the in-home consultation, not after demolition.

Yes. Sterling is unincorporated, so structural, plumbing and electrical work goes through Loudoun County Building and Development, not a town office.

We file it and manage every inspection. Cosmetic work that leaves the walls and services alone usually needs no permit, and we tell you which side of that line your project sits on.

Nearly always the same four moves: replace the peninsula with a real island, take the cabinetry to the ceiling, add a lighting plan instead of one ceiling fixture, and choose materials the builder never offered.

The footprint is usually fine. What changes is that the kitchen finally looks like it was designed rather than specified.

Yes, at our showroom on Mercure Circle in Sterling, off Route 28 near Dulles Town Center. Door styles, finishes, stone and hardware are all there to handle.

Most Sterling clients visit within days of the first meeting, which is a large part of why our local projects move quickly.

The kitchen itself is out of service during construction, so we help you set up a temporary kitchen elsewhere and keep dust contained to the work zone with sealed doorways and floor protection.

Everything else in the house carries on as normal, and the schedule you receive at the consultation tells you the dates the water and power are off.
