The Story
The Ashburn builder-kitchen ceiling
Ashburn’s neighborhoods went up fast through the 1990s and 2000s, and most kitchens came from the builder’s option sheet, the same three packages, street after street. Fine kitchens. Forgettable kitchens.
The house is typical of Ashburn’s planned communities, and so was the starting point: a twenty-five-year-old builder kitchen in a home that deserved better. The remodel brought the kitchen up to the standard of the rest of the house.
These homeowners wanted out of that ceiling: a kitchen with actual design intent, contrast, and materials the builder never offered.

What we built, and one honest tradeoff
A full remodel around a white-and-black scheme: crisp white perimeter cabinetry, contrasting island with a marble top, updated appliances and lighting. The kind of kitchen that photographs like a showroom but still works for a busy household.
The honest tradeoff: marble is beautiful and it patinas, it will etch and mark with use in a way quartz won’t. We make sure every client chooses it knowing that. Here, the homeowners wanted the real material and accepted the aging; quartz look-alikes were the fallback we offered.
