The 1962 hall bath becomes a room that earns its place in the house: a walk-in shower where the tub crowded the room, real storage, tile chosen for the light it actually gets, and a fan sized to the room instead of the original whisper. We remove the platform, build a full walk-in shower with frameless glass in the tub’s footprint, and turn the old stall into storage or a linen closet, with the plumbing rerouted while the floor is open. Where a tub still matters, for resale or for children, a freestanding tub takes far less room than the platform did.
