Alexandria’s older houses demand a team that treats structure, wiring and plumbing as part of the kitchen design rather than a change order. Our lead designer is a civil engineer by training, and our in-house crew handles the beam, the rewire and the replumb in the same project as the cabinetry. In Hollin Hills we design to respect the original architecture; in Old Town we work within the historic district’s rules.
Our showroom at 44225 Mercure Circle in Sterling is about 45 minutes from Alexandria; most Alexandria clients make one planned visit to settle cabinetry, stone and hardware in a single session.
We start with a free consultation at your Alexandria home. Our designers measure the kitchen, inspect the wall between kitchen and dining room, the electrical panel and the drain lines, and listen to how you want the space to work. You receive a detailed 3D design at no cost.
After you approve the design, we select cabinetry, stone and hardware together in our Sterling showroom and lock the budget and schedule. Alexandria has two permit authorities: homes inside the City of Alexandria are permitted through the City’s Department of Code Administration, and Alexandria-addressed homes in Fairfax County, such as Mount Vernon, Fort Hunt, Hollin Hills and Kingstowne, go through Fairfax County Land Development Services. Old Town exterior changes visible from the street also go to the Board of Architectural Review. We know which applies to your address and handle every filing and inspection.
Our in-house crew then builds the kitchen in one continuous run, with every cabinet and appliance ordered before demolition. You pay 30% down to begin, as Virginia law requires.

It depends on your address. Inside the City of Alexandria, building permits come from the City’s Department of Code Administration. Alexandria-addressed homes in Fairfax County, including Mount Vernon, Fort Hunt, Hollin Hills, Rose Hill and Kingstowne, are permitted through Fairfax County Land Development Services.

Cabinet, countertop and appliance replacement on the existing layout usually needs no permit from either.
Yes. Interior kitchen work in Old Town does not require Board of Architectural Review approval; only exterior changes visible from the street do, such as new windows or a rear addition, and we prepare that submission when a project needs it.
Rowhouse kitchens are narrow, so the design work is about the galley: cabinetry to the ceiling, counter-depth appliances, a lighting plan and, where the house allows, opening to the dining room with an engineered beam.
We plan around shared party walls and the age of the plumbing and wiring from the first visit.
We do. Hollin Hills kitchens are part of a mid-century modern architecture that buyers pay a premium for, so the goal is a kitchen that looks as if it belongs: flat-panel cabinetry, clean lines, continuous surfaces and lighting that respects the glass walls and ceiling planes.
The mechanical updates happen behind the scenes: new wiring, plumbing and insulation where the original construction needs it.

A full remodel with opened sight lines typically takes about eight weeks of construction; our Fairfax project ran roughly that. Older rowhouses and bungalows that need structural, electrical and plumbing work run closer to ten weeks.
Remodels on the existing layout finish in five to seven weeks.
Every cabinet and appliance is ordered before demolition, so lead times do not stall the build.
