Kitchen Remodel in Vienna, VA — Case Study
Inside a Completed Kitchen Remodel in Vienna, VA
White custom cabinetry, brass accents, and a full gut renovation. Here is exactly what this Vienna project involved, what it cost, and how long it took.
The Numbers
What the homeowners started with
A kitchen typical of many Vienna homes built in the 1980s and 90s: serviceable, but closed off from the living space, with dated cabinetry and lighting that made the room feel smaller than it was.
The goal wasn’t just a cosmetic refresh. The homeowners wanted the kitchen to become the center of the house — more storage, more counter space, and a finish level that matched the rest of the home’s value.
What we changed — and one honest tradeoff
This was a full gut: new custom white cabinetry to the ceiling, quartz surfaces, an island built for seating, brass hardware and fixtures, and a lighting plan with layered recessed and pendant light. Design was locked in 3D before demolition, so there were no mid-build surprises.
The tradeoff worth knowing: a remodel at this level means the kitchen is out of commission for most of the build. We tell every client to plan a temporary kitchen setup for six to eight weeks — it matters more to daily life than most people expect.

Questions Vienna Homeowners Ask
What does a kitchen remodel like this cost in Vienna?
This project landed in the $100K–$120K range. The three things that move the number most are cabinetry level (semi-custom vs. full custom), whether the layout changes, and appliance selections. A same-layout remodel with semi-custom cabinets can come in well under this; moving walls or plumbing pushes it up.
How long is the kitchen actually unusable?
Construction ran about nine weeks, and the kitchen was out of service for most of it. We help clients set up a temporary kitchen before demolition day — it’s the single best piece of preparation advice we give.
Do kitchen remodels in Vienna require permits?
Yes — Fairfax County requires permits for the electrical and plumbing work involved in a remodel like this one. EA handles the permit process and inspections; it’s built into the timeline, not an extra.
